Chief Long in action

Chief Long began his fire service career in 1991 as a shift fire and EMS captain in the industrial setting. In 1995 he began serving as a volunteer firefighter/EMT and then captain for Clark County Fire District 1 in Washougal Washington which later formed into East County Fire and Rescue (ECFR).  In 2006 he left private industry and began service as an engine captain for ECFR. In 2008 he served as fire chief for Worland Fire Protection District 1 in Worland Wyoming. Simultaneously, he also served as the Washakie County Fire Warden and Regional Coordinator for Wyoming Office of Homeland Security’s regional response team.  He returned to East County Fire and Rescue in 2010 to be closer to his children when that agency asked him to return to his original position.  In 2016 he was chosen to lead Klickitat County Fire District 3.  During his career, he has participated and led, numerous significant incidents, provided instruction to numerous volunteer fire academies, assisted and taught EMT courses, mentored firefighter/EMT residents, college interns and volunteer firefighters from all walks of life.

Chief Long is a registered IFSAC Fire Officer 2 and NWCG Division Supervisor.  He has held credentials such as fire service vocational teacher, EMT Basic, Senior EMS Instructor, Fire Service Instructor 1, Hazardous Materials Technician, and Confined Space/high angle rescue technician. He and his wife Jessica enjoy a family of five adult children and 7 grandchildren.
